Abstract

Dr. Chan will speak on how consultants can market their specialized technical knowledge and experience in chemical sciences and chemical engineering to Chinese government organizations and corporations. His talk will include: (1) Who are the leaders of chemical sciences and chemical engineering in China; (2) How to reach these decision-makers; (3) What to say to your prospects; (4) How to price your services and get paid; and (5) How to build a trusting relationship and avoid common pitfalls. James Chan’s goal is to help CCN members find ways to realize “money moments” in China, based on his 30-minute YouTube video with Rick Schilling: "Money Moments: Recognizing Needs & Adding Value"




Biography

James Chan, Ph.D., is founder and principal of Asia Marketing and Management (AMM), a Philadelphia-based consultancy specialized in helping U.S. manufacturers, service organizations and technical professionals in marketing American products and technical services to China and Asia. He began his international marketing career 32 years ago as China Manager of Academy Press, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Fortune 500 publishing company HBJ. He founded his consulting practice in 1983 and he has advised more than 100 U.S. firms and technical executives in finding agents and managing their export business.” Dr. Chan is the author of the book, Spare Room Tycoon: Succeeding Independently, The 70 Lessons of Sane Self-Employment.

The Cynwyd Club, 332 Trevor Lane, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004.From I-76 drive S on City Line Ave. (US Rte. 1). Turn right on Conshohocken State Rd. (Rte. 23); stay in right lane. After second light watch for white left-turn arrows painted on street (about .14 mi/750 ft). Do not follow Rte. 23 left at turn but instead go straight ahead onto Llandrillo Rd. (passing to right of Valley Press printing). In one block bear left onto Trevor Lane at stop sign. Clubhouse and parking are on the left. Please park in lot if space is available; otherwise park on Trevor Lane. If lost, call the club at 610-667-4524, ext. 312 MAP

Fee, including food and beverages (wine, beer & sodas), is $30 by Thursday, September 5th, $35 afterwards. Late reservations and walk-ins subject to availability. No-shows will be invoiced. Dietary restrictions accommodated on a limited basis. There is no charge for talk only, but registration is suggested using contact information above.
