How Much to Give Away
A Panel Discussion
led by Dr. Marc Halpern
Nearly every consultant has encountered prospects that try to get as much help as they can without paying for it. To some extent, one has to share some information in order to convince a prospective client to hire him or her. So the issue becomes how much should you give away, and how do you handle prospects that appear to be trying to get something for nothing. This is particularly a problem for engineers who must write detailed proposals. This has been the subject of an ongoing discussion on CCN's LinkedIn site. We hope to have some of those in this discussion as part of the panel, as well as our own members.
Dr. Marc Halpern is the founder and president of PTC Organics, Inc. He has provided phase transfer catalysis services at 238 industrial sites in the US, Europe and Asia. Dr. Halpern authored several books including the best-selling PTC book "Phase-Transfer Catalysis: Fundamentals, Applications and Industrial Perspectives" and is editor of the journal "Industrial Phase-Transfer Catalysis". Marc received his Ph.D. from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Prior to becoming a consultant, he was Director of R&D at Sybron Chemicals.
