Literature-Based Consulting (No Lab Required)
Dr. Kathryn Bullock
Literature-based consulting requires a strong knowledge of your field and its literature, but very little capital investment. Good reading, writing, typing, creative problem solving skills and access to an on-line computer are the foundation required to build a consulting business. Clients have diverse needs, and include attorneys, business leaders and entrepreneurs, editorial staffs of scientific publications, government contractors, inventors, marketing professionals and scientists/engineers with limited experience in the consultant's field. This talk will cover potential clients, examples of literature consulting, and methods for getting access to information.
Dr. Kathryn Bullock is an electrochemist with a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Northwestern University. She worked in industry developing batteries and other electrochemical power sources and applying them in electrical systems for 30+ years. In 2003, she formed her consulting company, Coolohm, Inc., and has since worked on a wide variety of projects. She also teaches a graduate course on electrochemical power sources at Villanova University and an IEEE short course on fuel cells. She represents the Electrochemical Society on the Heritage Council of the Chemical Heritage Foundation in Philadelphia and last year served on the National Academy of Sciences Committee to review the FreedomCAR and Fuel Partnership.
