As a practicing Chemical Engineering/Materials Consultant, Dr. Joel Shertok’s expertise is in New Product Development, Commercial Manufacturing and Chemical Process Optimization. Dr. Shertok has leveraged his deep background in multiple technologies, chemistries and varied unit operations to develop programs to create profitable new products, resins, intermediates and processes.

Dr. Shertok has developed novel products over multiple technologies: specialty chemicals (polymers, polymerization coatings), carbon fiber composites, biotech-based nutritionals, membrane filtration, ion exchange and carbon based separations and formulation development.

As a senior Process/Product Development executive, Dr. Shertok has been involved in the decision making processes that go into the creation of new product/process strategies.

Dr. Shertok received his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Princeton University, Princeton, New Jersey and his B.E., Chemical Engineering from Cooper Union, New York, New York. He has numerous patents. Dr. Shertok served as a Visiting Scholar in the School of Chemistry and Materials Science at RIT.

Dr. Joel Shertok is President of Process Industries Consultants, where he advises companies on chemical process practices and technologies to guide them in keeping their projects on track and on budget. He has a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Princeton University, and was a Visiting Scholar in the School of Chemistry and Material Science at Rochester (N.Y.) Institute of Technology. Joel has worked in a variety of areas, including (but not limited to) specialty and commodity chemicals, biotechnology, carbon-based purification, and formulated products for water treatment and food safety. In addition to these accomplishments, he also has a lifelong interest in European history, has held an Amateur Radio License since 1964, loves to write, speaks a little French and Hebrew, and has traveled all around the world. He lives in Newark, DE.

 Plasma-Assisted Diesel Liquid (PADL): Managed program to create long-range, $80K/month study using electrical plasmas to react methane with diesel fuel creating an augmented liquid fuel: $1MM in new revenues.
 TiO2 Nano-particle Manufacturing: Technology expert for a Nanotech start-up to define process economics and external manufacturing for manufacture of TiO2 Nano-particles for photocatalytic application: potential $1MM in gross margins.
 Green Product Development: Formulated/commercialized novel “green” cleaners/floor finishes: $200K in new revenues.
