Summary
After graduation, he worked with polymers and organic esters, designing photochromic and thermochromic systems for military applications, improved polyurethane elastomers and formulations for high temperature industrial and food processing lubricants. This work led to several patents for commercially successful polyurethane foams and lubricants.

After a decades long career in the chemical industry from bench chemist, lab manager, applications director, global sales manager, business director to executive vice president, Tyler started Hnuco Technologies in 2024. Hnuco’s goal is pursue interesting and useful opportunities for contract research, entrepreneurship, applications development, microwave assisted chemistry, strategic planning and commercialization support.
Services
Hnuco has experience merging the technical and business sides of the chemical industry, bringing innovative ideas from lab scale to commercialization. It is important to match innovation with market needs, and clients appreciate the practical mix of technical expertise and market know-how. Some of Hnuco’s interests include high performance industrial and food processing lubricants, microwave assisted esterification, polyesters for flexible polyurethanes, finding value in sustainable and environmentally friendly feedstocks and formula optimization.
Hnuco can support new business development at established companies as well as startups and entrepreneurial ventures that must understand their value proposition and competitive landscape to efficiently move through early-stage commercialization of new technologies.

Tyler serves on the Planning Commission and Industrial Development Authority for his local township and is past Chair of the Philadelphia STLE, Industrial Lubricants Committee of ILMA and Food Grade Lubricants Committee of the NLGI. He is a Contributing Editor for TLT Magazine, writing articles on fundamental technical topics for the lubrication community.
Education
BS in Chemistry from RPI
MS in Materials Science from Caltech.
