Abstract:
“Feast or Famine” is a common dilemma that many independent consultants face when trying to survive on their own. While you’re busy executing services for your client, you do not have time, nor make time, to develop new business before the contract ends. Other consultants may just feel that it is not in their nature to do business development, or don’t desire to participate in “sales.” Join us for a presentation where you will learn how to utilize basic business development techniques and strategies to fill your pipeline while leveling the “ups and downs” of being a professional consultant. We will discuss what business development means for consultants and why it is not considered “sales,” as well as many other topics, including how both networking and LinkedIn can be used as tools in business development.
Biography:
Chris Owens started his career as a process engineer in the biopharmaceutical industry, which led to a solid foundation for his later role as a business development executive, serving a wide range of manufacturing industries including food, foundries, chemicals, defense electronics, and pharmaceutical. He sits on multiple boards at Drexel University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in chemical engineering. Mr. Owens is now president of a consulting firm that helps owner clients bring products and technology to their markets by using multidiscipline, problem-solving teams and owner representatives to implement manufacturing projects.
