Abstract:

The course "Entrepreneurship" is now taught in many Philadelphia area High Schools, and is being added as a major in some colleges. We are all entrepreneurs, whether we planned it that way, or in my case, it just happened. Let’s find out what "Entrepreneurship" is happening in the area. We will review:

• Business start ups and successes
• Using OPM "Other Peoples Money" as funding for growth
• The role of Incubators, SBA, PIDC, and other funding sources
• Private Equity and how it works
• Crowd Funding and if it works
• Start up companies, what to look out for
• Exit strategies, and some recent successful (and not so successful) events.
• General discussion of the Entrepreneur climate in the area

Biography:

Bob Simpson, CPA, MST is founder,and managing partner of Brinker Simpson & Co, a CPA and business consulting firm located in the Philadelphia area. Bob's practice specializes in consulting with emerging businesses and tax planning. He is the former president of "Entrepreneurs Organization (EO) Philadelphia", and continues to consult their board, and acts as a mentor to new members looking to grow their businesses. He successfully coached two new member businesses to reach the $1 million sales mark in 2019, from their start up, and consulted on several exit transactions for his clients, one resulting is a buy out at a 19 X multiple of Earnings. Bob speaks frequently on business growth topics, and is sought out often for his expertise in a variety of emerging business situations
