Abstract:  The dynamic COVID-19 pandemic has brought with it an evolving literature base and understanding of the threat posed by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Often, the confusion and misinformation surrounding COVID-19 can be just as dangerous as the virus itself—with mixed messages regarding safety precautions, therapeutics, interventions, and diagnostics. Dr. Pescatore will review the latest understanding of COVID-19 and best practices for protection and safety, while giving a 1000-foot overview of Delaware’s pandemic response. Biography:  Rick Pescatore, DO, FAAEM is Chief Physician and Associate State Medical Director at the Delaware Division of Public Health. Dr. Pescatore is a 2009 graduate of the United States Naval Academy with a BS in Aerospace Engineering and a 2014 graduate of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his training in emergency medicine at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, NJ, where he served as Chief Resident. Rick worked as Director of Clinical Research and Medical Director of Emergency Medical Services at Crozer-Keystone Health Network before joining the DPH team, helping to lead the state’s efforts against COVID-19.
