Abstract: “The dose makes the poison” is the core of the science of toxicology. In this talk, Anne will provide an introduction to toxicology, and provide practical examples of the benefits of a transparent, scientific based strategy for supporting innovation, regulatory submissions, AND worker and the environment protection.

Biography: Anne Chappelle is a ‘card carrying’ board certified toxicologist and a subject matter expert regarding occupational asthma. For over 23 years, Anne has served on industry focused technical teams and oversight panels that deal with science-based issues that fuel future advocacy for legislation and regulations, sustainability, compliance, health-related issues, mandatory and voluntary research. She has been her own boss as a consultant (Chappelle Toxicology Consulting), and is now a Senior Managing Toxicologist at SafeBridge Regulatory and Life Science Consulting. Anne is committed to not just ensuring that products have a robust toxicological dossier to comply with regulations, but that the data serves to improve downstream uses to minimize potential adverse outcomes to workers, consumers, and the environment.

Anne is passionate about science communication. Targeting the right audience, and bringing people and stories behind the science of how biological, physical, and chemical agents may cause adverse reactions to public, animal, and environmental health, Anne serves as one of the current co-hosts of the Society of Toxicology interview podcast Adverse Reactions (www.adversereactionspodcast.com).
