Abstract:

This event is designed to provide an opportunity for an interactive discussion on the current state of the chemical industry, primarily from the perspective of those looking to enter the profession. What is the current state of hiring? What work modalities are being offered? How is the “new normal” affecting hiring and job acceptance?

Biographies:

James Murray is a member of the faculty at Immaculata University since August 2001. He has spent 13 years as Department Head at Immaculata, served as Chair of Local Section in 2019 and Chair of Career Services since 2020. Jim has been an ACS Career consultant for a little over 2 years.

Dennis Murphy is a Principal Investigator at GlaxoSmithKline in Mechanistic Biology. He did his Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin and was a post-doctoral fellow at the Penn State University. He has spent the majority of time in pharmaceutical research, but also worked in biocatalysis and enzyme evolution, bioinformatics, small molecule development, nanomaterials, and adjunct teaching, all in the Philadelphia area.

Bhaskar Venepalli is President of CiVentiChem, a premier CRO lab in RTP, North Carolina. He has been working as a career consultant past 20 years, served as Chair of NC local section, and currently serves as a counselor and CEPA committee member. He is a board of Director at North Carolina Biotechnology Center and a Trustee at North Carolina A&T University. He is a successful entrepreneur and Passionate about helping fellow chemists.
