Abstract: “Alternative Investments” is a term for several classes of investments beyond typical portfolio components. Alternative Investments include Registered Funds of private equities and hedge funds, Interval Funds, Private Credit Exposure, Real Estate Investment Trusts, and Managed Futures hedge funds. The advantage of integrating Alternative Investments into a portfolio is that under certain circumstances such investments offer uncorrelated returns, lower volatility, and an illiquidity premium, thus leading to improved portfolio performance.

Biography: Daniel Kaufman began his career in finance as an analyst at Bloomberg and further defined his career path by becoming a financial advisor in 2013. Dan is a financial planning specialist and holds the Series 7 and 66 securities licenses and those in health and life insurance. Dan takes a holistic approach to developing his clients’ portfolios with sophisticated investment strategies that help them achieve their short-term, intermediate, and long-term goals.
